Discuss > Jet's blog shows what Brett is up against !
There is only so much that Brett can do. It helps when your receivers can get separation and get open. It helps when your receivers run the correct route. It's sad when the defender continues to run the route and defend it while your receiver curls back. It doesn't help when your O line can't protect the QB. It doesn't help when your D can't contain the run. It doesn't help when your special teams allow the opponent to get a first down on 4th and long on a trick play that's straight out of a high school coach's playbook. Brett Favre did all he could while taking enormous hits. He led the Jets to 2 comebacks in this game. Including an insane Houdini act with 1:50 to go, starting from his own 5 yard line, barely escaping a sack. As Joe Namath said, Brett is amazing, but his team needs to step up because he can't do it all alone.
This all backs up my comments that Brett has a much bigger challange on his hands the Aaron does, and it might not even be fair to compare stats or team records.
We will never know if the Pack would have been even better with Brett, or if Rodgers could have even survivied with the Jets. We can only speculate, and debate.
Rick. You sir have dedicated your life to making endless excuses for Brett. All the power to you man. If you got that much time to look endlessly into finding anything that you think supports your twisted obsession with Brett, than so be it. Just remember, unfair siutuation, according to you TT and MM are so bad then Aaron's got it even worse.
Some Guy,
Two things:
Who are you to criticize about spending time on this when you must be on this website regularly(under some other alias) if you are aware that Rick's been "making execuses" for some time?
Second, how Aaron is treated by TT &MM has nothing to do with Favre. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Said another way, what does that "have to do with the price of tea in China"?
Not too much to do with the price of tea in China, but it has ALOT to do with where you couch is place. Feng Shui Pat, where's your BF cutout placed? Hopefully it doesn't upset the overall flow between your plant life and furunturial ambiance!!
For the record, yes, I made up some words there.
Some Guy, no cut out of Brett in my house, but your pillow with TT's face on it must bring you harmony.
O, you're such a shy guy Pat. Don't be so bashful. There's nothing to be ashamed of. We know it's a 'locker room' cutout of BF. You may be angering the peaceful flow betwwen your Ficus and your futon, but it doesn't mean you have to be ashamed to lick the cardboard. You might not want to lick it too much though, I hear the cutout you got is made in China. Ouch. watch out for the lead man, we wouldn't want you to become any more dillusional.
Let the Whiners go ahead and hate the superstars. It's how they measure there own worth. Otherwise, I think they would care much less.
Some guy, its hard to even come up with a response to something so jack ass stupid.
Reality, you are right. People that don't like themselves much sure like to tear down others.
Rick and Pat, what will be your next excuse for Favre failing.....the election? Face it, he is old and his skills have dimished, that is why he is no longer on the Packers roster. I seem to remember another coach with a Legend on his roster, who let said legend do what he wanted to at the line.....in a nutshell, the team suffered and the legend threw more picks and made more bad mistakes than any other time in his career. Then along comes a discipline oriented coach, similar to the style of coach the legend was ruled by before he was a legend, and his statistics skyrocketed. I'm sure you know who I am talking about.
As far as I'm concerned, let Brett be Brett, we have seen what that has gotten the Jets the last two games.....47 passer rating against one of the worst teams in the NFL? Not a legendary performance in most peoples eyes...but I suppose the two picks in that game weren't his fault either. Keep worshiping losers.
Hey Pat. Unblinded Packers Fan makes a pretty good point. I see you're quite upset about my little joke about the BF cutout. It's ok, you're stressed because Brett's career is over and now you gotta live your life through some guy you know from watching on tv or in the stands. All the power to you and Rick, you two have more excuse than Bill Oreilly has enemies.
Hey Reality and Pat, let the weak and feable minded worship a football player you know only through the TV and press conferences. Two can play your stupid game.
I have tried to look at things from your side, I have watched the Legend play his entire career, but sooner or later you have to put down the Legend punch and sober up.....I guess some of us deal better with change than others. If your not careful, and you keep talking about how great Favre WAS, you'll miss the next set of glory years. They are just around the corner, all you have to do is "see the light."
Hey Some Guy, how did you know I am a big Fox News fan...something tells me you are a big fan of MSNBC.(loser station for someone with loser ideas!)
A little off topic, but I had to comment.
I am not sure what you are talking about when you say excuses? Just obversations and facts.
Brett has played 2 average games the last 2 weeks, So did Aaron against the Cowboys and Bucs.
So what? You guys are the one's that are whinning, I don't get it Brett is gone, You got it your way. So what is your beef?
Brett made his bed, it wasn't our decision Rick. I would have been happy to see Brett back, but after the things he did to this organization and it's fan's, I can not forgive him ever.
Average games? Rick, again, step away from the Favre shrine. By average do you mean 4 TD's and 7 INT's? All against teams that were 0-5, 1-5 and 1-6.
Favre made his own troubles....he now has to live with them. And he is sure doing a great job maintaining his "own legacy."

Let's face it: Favre is saddled with the wrong coach at the wrong time. Mangini thinks he's Belicheck and it's his way or the highway.....he's not. My father told me during the Jets superbowl Weeb Eubank would call plays only to have Namath change them whenever he wanted. Favre needs to start overruling Mangini because this guy too often subscribes to "3 runs and a punt" as his offensive philosophy. Manginius is no offensive genious, that much is evident. No element of surprise whatsoever....take the reigns off the greatest quarterback our generation has ever seen dummy!
FAVRE IS A GREAT QUARTERBACK BUT NO HUMAN COULD TAKE A POUNDING LIKE HE DOES EVERY SUNDAY AND BE EXPECTED TO THROW THE BALL 50 YARDS DOWN FIELD.
Favre will be fine, the playbook is keeping him in handcuffs. He did look tentative I admit, but that had to do more with receiving bone jarring hits. A win against the Chiefs will wash this all away !
I don't think the Jets coaches are stupid, I just think that as they;ve showed us for the past 3 years, they have no b**ls
Easy answer...Not Favre..it's Mangina and Schittyheimer with their pu$$y play calls.C'mon over and play for the Rangers Brett.
"There's no need to panic if it's the game plan."-- actually, there is. During his entire tenure, Mangini hasn't showed that he is adaptive to situations. As a previous poster pointed out, he wants to be Belichick Jr., with this "my way or the highway" mentality. Stanleychm, you're absolutely right; if Favre doesn't have the option to call audibles on his own, then he should. I'll take Favre's 17-year track-record over Mangini's any day. Will Favre make mistakes? Absolutely, but by that same token defenses won't be able to stack the box because they know that Mangini and Schottenheimer are going to call three straight runs, defensive scheme be damned. Heck, if I was Favre I would call my own plays. What's Mangini going to do? Bench him?
It's sad to say the best coach on the team is the Special Teams coach, Westhoff and it's so true that this staff is underusing Bret. How could you come into a game against a team that's tops in the worst Pass Defense and have been torched week in and week out and not even take shots downfield. It's true like they said, Gibril played at the line of scrimmage all day and not only did they not use playaction, but they didn't even get a faster TE in the game like Keller to be able to cause matchup problems. No question the Running Game was working this week, but you can't run it the whole game without taking shots at the secondary downfield. After what he did to the Cards who are a much better D than the Raiders, why would you subject him to being Pennington for a week. Bret can make EVERY throw on the field so honestly, tell Brian to STF up and let Bret call whatever he wants because no one on that sideline has a clue or feel for game situation like the QB, especially with this staff
Chanchi Excellent analysis. Why is Mangini Chad-ifying Favre. I believe Favre still has the great arm, but the game plan of dunk and diming down the field seemed asinine. Of course they are going to have in eight in the box, when the defense sees thye game plan we have. Riduculous. Is there a slant pattern in that playbook? It also doesn't help when WRs can't seem to get any separation from the DBs.
tired arm my ***, how about protecting the qb so he can step up and deliver the ball
Couldn't agree more with DLawLovesNYsports. Slant pattern has been #4's bread and butter. O line stinks. #4 has taken more big hits in this short season than the past two years. I love the guy and worry he won't make it through the season. Defenses read our play calling like a book. Totally predicatable and ridiculous. Why have a big gun and call squirt gun passes?
As a huge GreenBay Fan I like Favre of course while Rodgers is playing well we were better with Favre,, which leads me to ask why are the Jet fans Bit****g? Chad with a good arm can't out throw Favre with a bad arm,,and it is hurt,,not because he is old because your awesome O -LINE doesnt quite get the concept of protecting the QB, Then you have your Coach ,,,,,,, does he know what a slant is? he has a couple of good TE USE Them,,and the WR 's try another new concept,,,RUN ,, RUN FAST, I have always like the Jets and wish you well, But its not ur QB's arms fault you lost but it is why your 3-3 which is better then you should be.This team needs a better Coach and players who want to win the battle,,,his name is Favre not Jesus.
