Discuss > Favre Comes Through w/4th Quarter Win

It tought at times, but Favre led the Jets to a last minute win with a perfect throw to the back shoulder. Say what you want about Favre, but you have to admire him never being afraid to throw the tough pass even if he has struggeled earlier in the game.
Classic fearless Favre!

Excuse the typo at the beginning of my last post. I should have previewed it. I think you can figure out what I meant to say.

Classic 3 interception Favre!

Bottom line is they won..just like the Packers won more games from 1992 through 2007 than any other team in the NFL - with Favre leading the way!

Brett made a couple of poor decisions, but if I dare say again, he has a lot on his plate. Brett did for about 2 quarters returned to an old habit of trying to win the game by himself , and make a play on every down.

If you watched the game, even the announcer's noticed and commented on the same things I have said all along. Now I do expect that the bash Brett types will say I am making excuses for him, well so be it.... I just speak of the facts backed up by the experts that report on the game. If you did not watch the game, I don't even now how you can comment on my obversations. Unless you can't or won't handle the truth.

This Jet's team is not that good. His recievers quit on routes, they don't get separation on routes, and more often than not, they are not that open. Brett is under constant pressure, He took 3 different shots that I thought he would not get up from.

The first pick the ball was partially tipped from behind as Brett was throwing and the pass came up short. This was the time he landed on his squarelym on his back, with the back of his head bouncing off the turf. He came up holding his arm.

The second pick was a 40 yard throw to a reciever double covered like a glove, that pass should not have been thrown. especially with no Moss or TO type to fight for the ball.

The 3rd pick Brett again wwas under immediate pressure and simply trusted the reciever to be there. Stuckey was cut off and quit on the play, if he fought through the pick he could have at least acted like a defender and possibly broke up the play. Brett should have seen this one though and ate the ball or threw it away. Unfortunatly this pick went 91 yards for a go ahead TD for the Chiefs.

Brett did lead the Jets back for the winning TD again trusting his reciever on the Touchdown to be there on the back side throw to Coles.

The Jets coach remides me of Rhodes, or even Sherman, in that they just let Brett go with out strong supervision, a good game plan, built around Brett's strengths.

This could be a tough year for Brett, and I hope that he can hold up with all this pressure, both by the defense , and the mental part of everyone expecting him to be the savior.

Give me a break. HE should have thrown 4 or 5 picks actually. He threw one right into the hands of a Chief's player but he dropped it. The Chiefs are a bottom 3 team in the league and has an awful D. How can you defend that? The Packer's would have destroyed that team and Rodger's would have had a field day.

Thank You, you finaly get it!

My point precisely.

Aaron has a walk in the park compared to what Brett has to work with.

Note! After 7 games with 9 games to go. The Jets have matched last years win total, and the Packers have matched last years loss total.

Rick, get a life man, for real.

Yet another excuse ridden post by my buddy Rick. Are you kidding me! The Jets have a 4-12 2007 record schedule this year and are struggling and losing to horrible football teams. Mostly because Favre is putting the team in bad spots with his usual bad decision making. The Jets fans were not only booing Favre's horrible play Sunday, they were also booing the fact that the team spent almost $30 million this year and are struggling to beat bad teams.

Your excuses for Favre's bad play are a testament to your blind faith in this old washed up liar. He may have been great 10 years ago, but he is old and bitter. Again, TT is smarter than you and I, and once again, his decision to let Favre go was the best thing for the Packers. Change can be a good thing, now the Jets can deal with bad picks and Jan-March "do I or don't I" hostage quotes from an old QB who can't make up his mind.

You guys can't handle the truth!

You also can't seem to come up with any resonable debate, Just your blind hatred.

October 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRick

I can handle some reasonable debate. How about the obvious "No call" on the Chiefs Franklin on 4th down? That coupled w/the phantom offensive interference on Gonzalez helped the Jets win more then anything Fvare did. Favre looked terrible out there. Reminded me of how he played in the MN dome.

Rick, honestly guy, it does seem that you have an excuse for every mistake Favre makes. It isn't "blind hatred" for Favre, its the excuses sports writers, announcers and fans like yourself make for Favres mis-cues which drive me nuts. When Favre has a multi-interception game, announcers (read Madden) seem to say, "Favre looks like a kid having fun out there" or "Even when he's having a terrible game, he's always having fun". When any other QB (Aikman) has/had a really off game, announcers are never that soft on them. Be honest Rick, Favre has always gotten preferential treatment on a number of issues.

Brett knew what he was getting into this year. ESPN and announcers, writers, and even posters here made it seem as if Brett was going to turn the Jets fortunes around. That's where people got the idea he was the Jets "savior".

How about when Brett throws 6 Td's, then its that the Cards suck so bad! Look at what they have down since!

The Hate Brett side also makes excuses when he does well or even just wins.

Look your post proves my point.

I have said that Rodgers has passed my expectations. I have said Brett has had some poor games. More than I can say for most F.... Farve foes.

Tell me. I bet you don't believe that Rodgers and the Packers are not milking this shoulder injury of his to the Max!

I'm sure it hurt at first, but 4 weeks later! Two games after it has shown any lingering effect on his play. Still over compensating the situation to prove that the Rodgers is "The Greatest"

If the injury is still that bad, then he could be damaging the shoulder and shorting his career. If its not that bad any more, give it up. The point is already proven, that he can be a gamer. Play it out to long and it looses its credibility.

Alright, you have me w/the Cards game. I do remember posting about not seeing a Card DB within 10 yards of a Jets receiver. Yeah, I have seen a number of positive posts from you regarding Rodgers.

Regarding Rodgers injury; my opinion is Rodgers really wants fans to have the same respect for him as they do for Favre playing through injuries. I believe he might come out on the field w/his arm hanging by a tendon. Rodgers has a lot to measure up to in many fans minds and he may be shortening his career by doing it. I'm not sure if this has any "front office" markings on it though. I don't buy into that as there isn't a great deal of talent coming out of the college ranks in the QB position for the Packers to replace Rodgers with if he goes down for good.
