Discuss > Sorry, but the Packers are boring!
Real happy for you Pat. Feel free to turn that bow on yourself whenever.
Happy to see the pack win against the bears
We did have 16 years of very interesting
football. Brett is a very interesting
quarterback to watch
With all the bad press out of Green Bay
about Brett I hope he retires as a Packer
in the hall of fame. It would be a shame
for him to retire as a Jet. He could however
probably make more money to retire in the
New York market as a Jet. Less money coming
in for the pack. Bad finacial move
Pat. It's become clear you're now a Jets fan. And despite me pointing out the obvious, that if Brett actually stuck to his word and stayed retired that you wouldn't give a shit about the Jets this year. Brett's gone man. GONE. If you're not a Packer fan now b/c Brett's gone, than you never were a Packer fan. I agree with John, turn the bow around man, you're obviously pointing it in the wrong direction. You're the target here.
Some other guy, the only things "obvious" are you don't understand the name of this website is "SAVEBRET", that the point of this website is to support Brett and hopefully see TT and his team get the boot.
I'm sure it feels good for you to have "insightful" John Campbell, as at least one other person on your side. You were getting to be the last of the sheep! It was starting to get boring with just you to beat up.
Pat. First off, you're the damn sheep dude. You ditch your team because a QB leaves and go root for a team know damn well you wouldn't be paying any attention if your not so secret crush wasn't there now. Talk about playing follow the leader.
Also, it's not that I'm one of the last of the people you call sheep. It's just most people stopped caring a month or more ago and moved on with their lives and I'm just staying here to waste your time and annoy you really.
But please, make sure the bow is pointed in the RIGHT direction.
Jet football games being changed to
prime time because they are interesting
BRETT NEVER RETIRED!!! Even the simple minded Thompson knew that in April. They had other plans and wanted him to retire. Guess what?! The American change his mind. Living in this free country affords you the right to do so. And as an American his is pursuing his happiness right now. So quit acting like a ex-spouse seeking revenge and just be happy for the American. GOD BLESS THE LAND OF THE FREE!
Dave K & Reality, Great points... I do believe the people who see what really went on here with TT wanting Brett gone are the same people who value what this country is about.
You are right on Reality - Brett exercised his rights in this great country and sheep like "some other guy" can't take it that we don't blindly follow "Big Brother" aka Packer Mgmt.
Free thinkers can't stand TT and his gang!
It's just most people stopped caring a month or more ago and moved on with their lives...
Yep, I'm back to watching Al Davis impersonate the owner of an NFL team. No-one on either side of the Favre-fence is going to change his/her mind on this.
Dude made a point in another thread which was interesting; who would ESPN choose to fawn over if Brady hadn't gotten hurt this year? With both Favre and Brady in the same division a choice would've had to have been made. My money is on Brady. He generates more drama then even Favre.
Well, have a great Thanksgiving.
Brett always tried to make a play
Aaron throws it out of bounce
If by making a play you mean throwing a punt, then Yes. You'd be right Jim B.
Brett never signed his retirement papers for a reason.
I saw him on the David Letterman show a couple of weeks after the retirement press conference.
It was quite obvious that he was not done. Even David Letterman got that out of Brett.
Rick. I commend you for your commitment to your cause but your theory just doesn't hold water dude. Maybe instead of so much commitment you need to be committed? No one is arguing that Brett still wanted to play. What we're saying is Brett had the press conference announcing his GOD DAMN retirement! Don't give us the 'oh he's an american so he can change his mind' BS. That shit don't fly in the real world man. I can't use the Favre line if I retire and expect my boss to let my come back. it doesn't work like that.
I don't care if he didn't fax the papers to mr Goodell. It doesn't matter man. He freaking RETIRED. So the Packers made Aaron the starter. At any point did you thinnk the team was going to be like, eh, Aaron, back on the bench, we gotta let Brett come back and see if he wants to retire again in 4 weeks. If you did think that, than you, and pat, are idiots. I've said it before and I'kll say it again, when you retire, it's over, adios, GOOD BYE! As for letting BF compete for the job, just like Brett said ,why? He's too self absorbed to compete....
Maybe the Jets will offer him an
extra 5 million to come back
next year
Some other guy, you have mentioned your boss would never let you come back if you retired??..well, here's a "real world" fact.-
Your importance and impact to where you work, safe to say, do not begin to rival the impact Favre has had on his former employer (the Packers) and WI in general.
My Point: In the "real world" everyone isn't the same, everyone shouldn't be treated the same, and "Legends write their own stories".
That quote is from Deana Favre's tribute to him before a Monday night game last year.
She also said , "We are survivors". They are and they inspire us with that attitude and accomplishments.
TT spat in the face of a legend and spat in the face of those of us that are so thankful for what he did for the Packers and what he represents.
You and your gang don't get that and never will.
The difference between Brett supporters and Brett haters is as simple as gratitude vs. jealousy. Your position that he is washed up is a weak one. Compared to any standard, most importantly NFL standards, he is far from done and is consisdered one of the all time best. That's why I call it jealousy. You wish you could do the same and found you could never come close. Arm chair qbs are just that, know it alls that repeat things to try to make their pathetic lifes more complete. If you are a football fan at all, you too have cheered for a player on the field. If you are American you can appreciate the "Pursuit of Happiness". If you are jealous keep whining about how Brett hurt your feelings and continue to bash true football fans.
How are we jealous? I do not think that anyone is doubting his talents. It is more his behavior that we are evauluating. I think you are just rambling because have of your argument is off-base.
It is clear to me that Favre outgrew his legend here in GB. It all started when Sherman let him do whatever he wanted, then was amplified when the only accontability in his life passed away unexpectedly (Irv). When Sherman was fired, Brett wanted Mariouci, and used his prominance to push the idea. When he didn't get his way, reports of Bus shopping him around the league grew. Then, Favre was pissed when Wahle and Rivera weren't offered the ridiculous contracts the Panthers and Cowboys offered them (even though at the time the Packers had about 50 cents of cap room from the horrible Sherman years). Again, rumors of his retirement and trade ampled up. Then, the Randy Moss trade rumors came about. WHich in my opinion is a slap in the face to the receivers that were here catching his passes for the two previous seasons. When Thompson didn't pull that trigger, again, retirement and trade rumors. (the Moss deal is ridiculous, why would be have wanted to come here to a previously 4-12 and 8-8 team when he could go to a team that were preseason favorites to go to the Superbowl and had just spent $25+ million on free agents). Then the 13-3 season came about, lightening in a bottle, and he surprisingly retires. What? I for one thought for sure he was going to come back. Then, after a couple of visits and dicussions with Packers management about the validity of his retirement, the Packers name Rodgers the starter, and Packer fans accept him into the family. Favre, on the other hand, was sitting at home confused as to why everything was proceeding so well without him, and got the itch.
Summary of all this, he wanted back on his terms or he wanted out. The Packers were willing to let him back, but not as "the man"... he would have to compete. He threw the Legend card on the table, and TT and MM spit on it and threw it back in his face. Refute what you want Legend lovers, but those are the facts. The Packers stuck thier ass out for a first year QB, and once again proved they are smarter than you or I. This team is not losing because of poor QB play. And another thing, first Rodgers was inexperienced, but when he showed poise on the field and a command of the offense, it switched to "injury prone." Then he gets hurt, and plays well through the injury, it changes to he is not a leader. Now he essentially plays like Favre in an ass kicking on Monday night (making throws into tight coverage, running for first downs and TD's, not letting up, and laying the wood to a DB after a pick)....what will it be now?
Moving in knew direction
One game away from super bowl
Brett gone
Ryan gone
KGB Gone best pass rusher
offensive line (bad)
defensive line (bad)
Aaron Roger ( always good no matter what)
I have been a Packer fan since the
Lombardi era. The packers have gone
thru good times and bad times and I was
still a Packer fan.
However In the short time TT has been here
my perception of the Packer has gone from positive to negative. I dont exactly know why
Dave K, I feel exactly the same. - long term supporter of the Packers through all the ups and downs yet now I just don't consider the Packers my team anymore. They used to be a team, owned by the community, something special,a team that was still connected to "what mattered". Now, they are just a typical proffessional franchise that happens to be run by an egomaniac misfit. That's why I don't root for them anymore.
Its my hope that when TT gets fired I will feel like I used to about the Packers.
The rest of the "true" Packer fans wont welcome you back with open arms when you do decide to come around Pat. At least Dave K has the decency to say that Rodgers is a good player. Get over it Pat, it's getting pretty sad.
John, being "welcomed" back by jack asses like you is not a priority of mine.
Being a fan is a personal decision. Agreed, it is a good thing John has no say.
Pat, you've expressed precisely how I feel with regards to being a Packers fan. I used to believe that it was something special, but once the powers that be became egomaniacs, then I begin to believe that the team would have been better off being owned versus community sponsored. With Favre being shipped out like he was, it's easy to see why the "support anything the Packers do" creed doesn't work anymore when at least half of the fans are brain dead when it comes to evaluating a real football player. Rodgers hasn't been bad this year, but I'm still guaranteeing an injury at some point and a serious one at that. When McCarthy said that the train is leaving the station, who would have guessed that the destination was the toilet at the bottom of the division. That is the "future" that Thompson guaranteed with this team by treating Favre like he has. To think that this Packers team was 13-3 last year is laughable. We're seeing how much of that record was Favre's winning know how on a team full of young players. Youth at QB never proves anything; experience and reputation do.
Neither one of you has ever been a fan of th Packer's. I am willing to bet you did not follow the Packer's before Favre and if you did you were a "fair weather fan." You probably bitched about how they were no good and that you would refuse to follow the team if they didn't turn it around.

Yesterday the Packers hammered the Bears. In previous years I would have found that game great, but to be honest I was outside yesterday shooting my bow and getting things ready for a trip out West next week. The Packer game was on in the house and nobody was even watching it.
I found myself wishing the Jets were on!
